One of the most popular features in last year's race was the inclusion of a Whoopie Pie table at the top of the hill on Route 1. What, you may ask, is a Whoopie Pie table?
Anyone's who's ever driven through Waldoboro is aware of Moody's Diner. In fact, Maine state law mandates that you stop there at least once a year to eat. You can't really have a race that celebrates Waldoboro without including Moody's, so we send our runners up a pretty steep hill and at the top, they're greeted with this.
[Jeff, pictured above, got a full-sized whoopie pie, but he's one of the Moody clan]
It was pretty popular. Really poplar. I was asked about it during a half marathon. So popular, in fact, that the #1 question we've gotten this year is, will the Whoopie Pies be back? We're thrilled to announce that indeed they will be.
So as you work your way up that final hill, set your eyes on the Moody's sign and know that a sweet, sweet reward awaits you at the top. Trust us, you'll have earned it.
